Prior to co-founding the company in 2014, Dr. Nagel initiated and led several research projects with a focus on Terahertz technology development. He received his PhD from the RWTH Aachen University in 2003. From 2004 on he worked in chief engineer position at the Institute of Semiconductor Electronics, RWTH Aachen. In 2011 he changed to AMO GmbH, where he initiated and led several Terahertz technology transfer projects. He has authored or co-authored over 160 publications and international conference presentations with more than 4000 citations and filed fourteen patents.

Simon Sawallich received the Diploma degree in solid-state physics from RWTH Aachen University, Germany in 2012. During his studies, he gained further experience in the application of Terahertz (THz) technologies at ENS Paris. After graduating in May 2012, he co-founded Protemics, where since 2021, he is chief technology officer and in charge of analytic services and THz system development. His research interests lie in THz near-field microscopy and THz based sensing applications for material inspection and device characterization.

Dr. Matheisen has extensive experience in the development and application of Terahertz technology. He studied physics at RWTH Aachen University and gained his PhD from the Institute of Semiconductor Electronics at RWTH Aachen University in 2013. Dr. Matheisen joined Protemics from 2012 - 2017 and is now an active member of the advisory board.

Dr. Meuer studied business administration at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and the University of Michigan. He gained his PhD from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship group at RWTH Aachen in 2016. Dr. Meuer joined Protemics from 2012 – 2015 and is now an active member in the advisory board.
